Kate Middleton Says Family Teases Her Soft Voice
Kate Middleton has said she is often teased by members of the royal family over her “soft voice” during public engagements. The Princess of Wales made the remarks while speaking with guests at Buckingham Palace, where she discussed finding formal reception settings challenging.
In remarks quoted by The News International, the Princess said: “I find these environments are really hard. I’ve also got a very soft voice, so I always get told ‘Speak up a bit louder!’”
The report also recalled Kate’s comments in the 2016 ITV documentary Our Queen at Ninety, in which she said walkabouts take practice and that her family teases her for spending “far too long chatting” with members of the public. The Princess added at the time that she still had “to learn a little bit more” and pick up more tips.
Kate’s latest appearance continues a period of heightened attention on her public-facing role, after she was reportedly caught off guard by press attention with Prince William during a recent engagement.
As the Princess of Wales takes on more prominent duties, her comments offer a glimpse of the personal adjustments that come with the job, from managing walkabouts to projecting confidence in busy royal settings.
