Kate Middleton Seen With Thumb Plaster
Catherine, Princess of Wales, was photographed with a plaster wrapped around her right thumb as she arrived at a Buckingham Palace reception held on Tuesday to mark what would have been Queen Elizabeth II’s 100th birthday. The brief glimpse of the bandage prompted fresh concern among royal watchers, although the Princess continued to greet guests and carry out the engagement as planned.
Hello Magazine reported that the Princess’s injury appeared minor and that it remains unclear how she hurt her thumb, noting she has previously been seen wearing plasters after small mishaps while spending time with her children.
During the reception, the Princess was seen speaking with retired police officer Mr Tony Gledhill, 88, who received the George Cross in 2008 for subduing armed criminals in 1966. The outlet said Catherine leaned in to hug Mr Gledhill and held both his hands as he became emotional, before he later described the encounter as “lovely” and said: “The princess was lovely, she was fantastic.”
The appearance also follows earlier public moments in which Catherine has addressed minor injuries, including during a 2023 engagement when she said she had hurt her hand on a trampoline and had strapped her fingers “just to keep it safe”, as reported at the time by Kensington Palace. More recently, she has spoken candidly about public attention, including when she was reportedly caught off guard by press attention with Prince William during an engagement.
The Palace has not issued any statement about the plaster, and the Princess’s schedule appeared unaffected. The reception formed part of a wider set of commemorations reflecting on Queen Elizabeth II’s legacy, with senior members of the Royal Family attending to meet guests and recognise contributions to public life.
