The 1980’s singer, Kate Bush, it has been said reached out to a man who seems to be in hot demand lately – Blur frontman, Damon Albarn. This is due to a divisive Glastonbury set performed by Gorillaz – which includes Albarn. To learn more about what happened, and why Bush felt the need to reach out to Albarn we’ll dig deeper into the situation and perhaps see if we can gain some music wisdom.
According to NME, Damon Albarn (of Blur) revealed that after Gorillaz’ divisive Glastonbury festival headline in 2010, 1980’s pop sensation Kate Bush called to tell him it was “one of the best shows she’d ever seen”. Coming from Kate, it was certain to have left an impression on the younger Damon.
Damon made some comments regarding the now 13-year-old event below:
“We wanted to just be, and not do the normal schtick of ‘hello Glastonbury, how are you all feeling?’ We wanted to just do our thing,”.
Gorillaz were a last-minute replacement for U2 who postponed when Bono injured his back. Albarn returned to the iconic festival with Gorillaz one year after with his band Blur.
“I realised halfway through the Gorillaz set that the audience had no idea who some of the guests that we were bring onstage were, because I wasn’t introducing them,” he said of the set.
