Kanye West recently made headlines after a bizarre deposition video from a 2020 lawsuit was released. In the footage, Kanye, wearing a black cap, shields his eyes and avoids eye contact with the lawyer. When asked if he was on his phone, he admitted he was, but argued it helped him focus. He also put on a full face mask during the deposition, telling the attorney, “Because you don’t have the right to see my face.”
The deposition was part of a lawsuit filed by MyChannel Inc., a black-owned tech firm, which claimed Kanye reneged on an agreement to pay them for building his Sunday Service and Yeezy e-commerce platforms. The company was seeking $20 million in damages, but the case was reportedly settled in 2021.
In the video, Kanye also declared, “You are talking to the richest black person in the history of America!” He continued to be uncooperative, refusing to tell the lawyer where he was giving the deposition or what other items were in the room.
The full episode of “Interrogation Raw: Celebrity Under Oath,” featuring Kanye’s deposition, will air on A&E on December 26 at 10 p.m. ET.
