Justin Bieber Targets Coachella Comeback With R&B Focus
Justin Bieber is set to take on what is being framed as a career-defining Coachella headline performance, with a new report claiming the singer has been preparing intensely in the weeks leading up to his Saturday night set. The 32-year-old, who has appeared at the festival as a guest in previous years, is said to be approaching this slot as a major statement moment.
Daily Mail reported that an insider claimed Bieber feels he has been “slightly outdone” by stars including Harry Styles and is viewing Coachella as a chance to remind fans of his success and impact.
The report said Bieber has spent weeks recording backing vocals for live arrangements, and has tried to avoid sugar and alcohol during rehearsals because they can dry out the throat and affect energy levels. The insider also claimed he has been leaning on trusted friends for support and taking advice from singer-songwriter Odeal ahead of the two-weekend festival run.
Bieber has performed at the festival during Ms Ariana Grande’s set in 2019 and alongside Canadian singer Mr Daniel Caesar in 2022, but this is his first headline booking. His Coachella preparations come amid ongoing public attention on his live return after illness disrupted touring plans, with Britpop News previously reporting that he was scheduled to top the bill on Saturday night.
While the report suggested Bieber is not planning a full-scale tour, it described the upcoming shows as a high-stakes performance moment, with the singer said to be prioritising more vocally demanding R&B material as he returns to the festival’s biggest stage.
