Ben Winston says Bieber chose boxers look last minute
Justin Bieber’s stripped-back performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards has drawn fresh attention after the show’s executive producer said the singer did not settle on his stage outfit until the moment he walked out.
Daily Mail reported that Grammys executive producer Mr Ben Winston told the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast he did not think Mr Bieber decided what he would wear “until he walked on stage”, after the singer performed ‘Yukon’ wearing custom light purple satin boxers from his SKYLRK brand, plus ankle socks, while playing guitar.
Mr Winston also described the rehearsal as brief, saying Mr Bieber’s run-through lasted around 15 minutes and that he intended to keep the staging simple to focus attention on the vocals. He recalled asking the singer to perform the set again during rehearsal so camera operators could prepare for the live broadcast.
The appearance came as Mr Bieber entered the ceremony with four nominations linked to his album ‘Swag’, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album, while ‘Yukon’ was nominated for Best R&B Performance. The night also reignited online chatter around his ink, following discussion of a back tattoo spotted during the show, with some fans debating what the design represents.
Mr Bieber is also due to headline Coachella in April, and the low-key Grammys staging may offer a clue to the kind of performance fans can expect when he takes to the festival stage across two weekends.
