Jason Alexander Defends Britney Spears After DUI Arrest
Jason Alexander has defended Britney Spears publicly following her DUI arrest in California, urging people to “slow down” and wait for “facts, fairness and due process” as the singer prepares for a May court date.
Commenting on social media in the aftermath of the arrest, Page Six reported that Mr Alexander, 44, referenced claims about a possible blood-alcohol result of 0.06 and argued that, if accurate, it would be below the legal limit in many states, while noting people can still face DUI charges if they are driving erratically.
Mr Alexander, who was married to Spears for 55 hours after a 2004 Las Vegas ceremony, wrote that “rumors spread faster than facts” and asked followers to “let the facts come out”. He also suggested that, if the only substances involved were legally prescribed medications, it could change how the situation is viewed, while advising Spears to step away from the “Hollywood circus”.
His message adds to the growing chorus around the incident, following comments from her former husband Sam Asghari calling for privacy and asking that the press give the pop star space.
Spears, 44, was taken into custody after being reported for swerving in and out of lanes in Ventura County, according to the same report, and she has a court date scheduled for May 4. Representatives for the singer did not immediately respond to a request for comment, Page Six said.
