Insiders Detail Meghan Markle’s Netflix Split
Industry figures have offered differing accounts of why Meghan Markle’s lifestyle venture “As Ever” is no longer working with Netflix, after a partnership was announced less than a year ago. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have continued to develop separate commercial projects since stepping back from senior royal duties, and the reported split has prompted fresh questions about how the brand will proceed.
The Times of India said conflicting narratives emerged following the announcement, with one account suggesting Meghan Markle felt “held back” by Netflix while another claimed the streamer was unhappy with how As Ever was performing and that it did not fit alongside its major titles.
In the same report, communications and PR specialist Ms Mayah Riaz told The Mirror that two competing explanations often indicate both sides are attempting to manage perceptions around a high-profile break-up. She also argued that the Sussex brand now faces a sharper focus on what it is offering as a product, rather than relying on headline momentum.
The development follows earlier reporting that Netflix was reportedly unhappy with Meghan Markle’s As Ever brand, as commentary grew around the partnership’s direction and what would come next.
No new timeline for future Netflix-linked projects was set out in the report, but the shift to operating independently leaves Meghan’s team to steer As Ever’s next phase without the platform’s involvement.
