Harry Styles Opens Up On ‘Existential’ Tour Doubts
Harry Styles has spoken about feeling “existential” at times while touring, describing doubts about what he was contributing amid the noise and adulation that can surround live shows. The comments come ahead of the release of his fourth studio album, Kiss All The Time, Disco, Occasionally, due on Friday, and a global run of dates set to begin in May.
Styles said he sometimes struggled in the middle of tours with “feeling like I’m not sure what I’m giving, not sure what I’m adding to the world”, The Standard reported, adding that running became a way for him to process the intensity of being constantly observed.
In the interview, the former One Direction singer also reflected on how celebrity can change the relationship between an artist and the world around them, saying that running restores “the simplicity of it” and allows him to feel like an observer again. He described going out clubbing during his time away from the spotlight as a major influence on the new record, and said he wanted his concerts to capture the feeling of being “lost in instrumentation and the musicality”.
The release arrives after a quiet period following the end of his Love On Tour shows in 2023, and follows a return to the Brit stage this weekend where he appeared at the BRIT Awards in a head-turning look while promoting the album era.
Styles’ Together, Together tour is scheduled to start in May, with dates announced in cities including London, Sydney, Mexico City and Amsterdam. The album’s themes and dancefloor-inspired sound suggest a shift towards immersive, communal live moments—something he said he hopes fans can share with him, rather than feeling like they are being preached to.
