Harry Styles prompted a strong studio reaction after referencing Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor during his opening monologue on Saturday Night Live on 14 March, using the moment to contrast the appeal of “being boring” with the consequences of public scandal. The appearance also served as a high-profile return to live TV promotion following the release of his latest album earlier this month.
During the monologue, Styles spoke about taking up jogging in London and joked about “runner’s high” and “watermelon sugar high” before adding that he also “love[s] ecstasy”; Hello Magazine reported that the camera then cut to a photo of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in the back of a police car following his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in a public office on 19 February, as Styles grimaced and loosened his collar.
