Gene Simmons tweeted that he is furious that Iron Maiden aren’t being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, responding to a Blabbermouth.net article, writing, “RR Hall of Fame is a sham not to include MAIDEN. Disgusting!”
Simmons’ KISS bandmate Paul Stanley said, “Regardless of whether it matters to them, Maiden not being in the @rockhall of Fame is INSANITY. Regardless of who is writing in or not, the Committee must induct them. They have helped spawn an entire genre of music. What else do you need to do?? @IronMaiden.”
A fan named Andy commented, “Question: I only ever hear about the RARHOF on Blabbermouth. Whilst Blabbermouth features international bands, it is, I believe based in the U.S. Is the RARHOF a big deal there? I’m assuming it’s refferenced on T.V. or in popular culture somewhere that I’m unaware of? I’m trying to figure out why it’s on Blabbermouth so often, and I can’t really understand what role it plays…”
Guppus responded, “It’s just like the Emmys, Grammys, Golden Globe,etc… We’re brainwashed by the media and society to think that these shallow institutions mean something like the art somehow doesn’t have any intrinsic value of its own. The RRHOF is just an extension of the RIAA with its biggest influence being record sales which doesn’t equate to influence or perpetuation of anything other than greed.”
