Fox host Tomi Lahren defended Taylor Swift after the President mocked Swift for getting booed at the Super Bowl.
“I know I see this differently than a lot of my conservative friends, but I didn’t like nor do I celebrate the booing of Taylor Swift.
What did she do to any of y’all? I get that she endorsed Kamala but that’s her right.
Are we supposed to hate someone because they have different political opinions?
Overall, she is a wholesome and talented performer, who, by all accounts, is kind to her crew and a nice person.
I don’t celebrate that kind of thing being booed just because she voted for someone that I didn’t.”
Jimmy Kimmel has backed pop icon Taylor Swift, who was booed by the crowd after the jumbotron at Caesars Superdome panned to her and her friend Ice Spice in the stands. Soon after, President Donald Trump, who was booed at the New Orleans stadium himself, reacted to the February 9th moment on social media via E Online.
“The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas city chiefs was Taylor Swift,” Trump, who became the first sitting president to attend the Super Bowl, wrote on Truth Social the night of the big game.
“She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”
After the president’s post, which was one of multiple about the 35-year-old, people jumped to Swift’s defense. Indeed, Kimmel shared his take on Trump’s ridiculing comments in his opening monologue.
“Well, she didn’t get booed out of the stadium,” the host said on the February 10th episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!. “Unlike you, she stayed for the whole game and it was the Eagles fans who were booing her.”
In the moment, the “Karma” singer responded to the crowd’s icy response with grace. As the stadium’s jumbotron showed Adam Sandler sitting next to Paul Rudd, it cut to a shot of the “Bejeweled” singer. And once the crowd started booing, Swift got wide eyed and shot a quick glance at Ice Spice, who was seated next to her, before laughing it off.
“But you’re right, it’s all about you,” Kimmel continued. “Trump’s just jealous of Taylor Swift because she has more followers and more money and no kids than he does.”
This wasn’t the first time Trump has been critical of Swift—especially after she endorsed then-Vice President Kamala Harris for president in September. In fact, the 47th president took the opportunity to praise Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
“Well, I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better,” Trump said on Fox News at the time. “If you want to know the truth, she’s a big Trump fan. I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was just a question of time. You couldn’t possibly endorse [Joe] Biden. But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”
“But I like Brittany,” he continued. “I think Brittany is great. She’s a big MAGA fan. She’s the one I like much better than Taylor Swift. Wife of the great quarterback. I think she’s terrific.”
A few days later, he further expressed his contempt for the singer, writing, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,” on Truth Social.
