Dua Lipa has taken the world by storm since releasing her debut album in 2017. That debut album would be a lowkey hit in her home country of the United Kingdom. The self-titled debut album would debut at number five on the UK Albums Chart with first-week sales of 16,223 units. In its 38th week, the album reached a peak of number three on the chart selling 9,518 units; it was boosted by the singer’s appearance at the 2018 Brit Awards.
In April 2021, the album spent its 200th week on the chart and it has not left it since its debut. Of that time, the album spent 179 weeks in the chart’s top 40, making it the seventeenth album with the most weeks in the region. In March 2020, Dua Lipa was awarded a double-platinum certification for selling 600,000 album-equivalent units in the United Kingdom. As of April 2021, the album has sales figures of 720,505 units in the country. On the UK Singles Chart, the album is tied in the fifth for an album with the most top-10 singles with six. Nine songs on the album have been certified platinum or multi-platinum in the United Kingdom, while three songs have been certified silver.
On social media via Instagram, Lipa would recently showcase a sultry and stunning photo of herself and one of her good friends Sarah Lysander. It should be noted that Lysander is a model who was celebrating her birthday and the two women put together a little makeshift photo shoot that is as stylish as they are. During an interview feature with GQ back in 2018, Lipa would touch on how she deals with criticism. She told the outlet the following: “You want to show that you’re here to stay and you want to show that it’s not just about one album or one big song or whatever it is,” she said. “I just wanted to make sure that this time around, I was very much in control of the fact that I’m going to do the music, then I’m going to rehearse. And then when I come in and I do the performances, they’re all going to be amazing. I’m going to prove to people that I can do this and that I’m here to stay.”
