Damon Albarn’s Gorillaz have shared a new song called “Crocadillaz,” featuring Dawn Penn and De La Soul, including a verse from the late Trugoy the Dove. The song is very touching when listening to it because of knowing that Trugoy the Dove is no longer here.
As reported by Pitch Fork – The song has really gained traction in a very short amount of time. You can chalk that up to the huge fanbase that both the Gorillaz and De La Soul have. Fans of the Gorillaz have been loving the song and it has been opening the eyes of many who, previously, may not have known about Trugoy’s fantastic work.
Trugoy the Dove is on this track at an awesome pace. He really does make the song, and that’s just upon the first listen. Surely, the track will continue to grow on many.
The song is featured on Cracker Island (Deluxe), the latest version of the band’s new album. Other new features include Del the Funky Homosapien (“Captain Chicken”) and MC Bin Laden (“Controllah”).
Gorillaz have been remembering the work that Trugoy has put in various multiple ways. This is just one of them. It feels like the perfect send off to an incredible talent and person. Many forget, but Trugoy the Dove was there from the very start of Gorillaz, so his impact surely is evergreen.
