Damon Albarn states that Blur will be on a hiatus after their successful run during the recent tour. The time has not been specified by Albarn, but it looks like there is no specific date as yet on when Blur will reunite to present the fans with some exceptional music.
According to NME, Albarn did a new interview with French publication Les Inrockuptibles. He spoke about his group Blur which has Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bassist Alex James and drummer Dave Rowntree. The group reunited after an eight year hiatus and released their ninth studio album ‘The Ballad Of Darren‘ earlier this year.
Damon Albarn also played with his group in the scheduled shows last month in South America. Albarn said, “It is time to wrap up this campaign. It’s too much for me. It was the right thing to do and an immense honour to play these songs again, spend time with these guys, make an album, blah-blah-blah. I’m not saying I won’t do it again, it was a beautiful success, but I’m not dwelling on the past.”
Damon Albarn will be working on an opera which will be presented in Paris next year. He will also be with Jamie Hewlett in India to “start working on a new Gorillaz album.” Blur member Coxon will be heading out with his band The Waeve on a UK arena tour as opening support for Elbow.
The group members have given the fans something to cherish. It looks like the fans will have to continue with the available project as their isn’t much happening for the band in the foreseeable future. It would be interesting if things change and people are able to experience the extravaganza involving Blur members.
