Chris Martin from Coldplay recently talked to NME about their new album, Moon Music, which comes out on October 4. He shared that the band is close to finishing their journey of making new music. This album is their 10th, following Music of the Spheres from 2021, but Coldplay did respond to Liam Gallagher’s insult recently.
Martin explained that since 2008, the band has focused on writing songs that feel genuine to them, no matter what others think. He described Moon Music as a story about starting the day feeling bad but ending it on a positive note.
In 2021, Martin mentioned that Coldplay planned to release their last album in 2025. He confirmed that they still want to finish with 12 albums, but this timeline might change.
He revealed that the upcoming musical will be considered their 11th album, but it may come out after their final album, which will be called Coldplay. The last single from Moon Music will be “All My Love,” and it will be the final regular single from the band.
Martin highlighted that having a goal of 12 albums keeps them motivated in their work. He reassured fans that by the time they finish their last album, the overall story of Coldplay’s music will make sense.
Looking to the future, Martin stated that Coldplay won’t break up after their last album. Instead, they plan to explore other projects like touring and curating events. He also mentioned wanting to create new types of shows that highlight their past music and support new artists.
In the interview, Martin also expressed his appreciation for newer artists and talked about their big performance at Glastonbury 2024. He emphasized the band’s commitment to helping smaller music venues in the UK.
