Coldplay’s Chris Martin recently showed 57,000 fans how easy it is to respect pronouns during a concert in Auckland, New Zealand. While performing at Eden Park as part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour, Martin interacted with a fan in a heartwarming way. Coldplay even donated 10% of their 2025 tour profits.
He started singing a song to a concertgoer, calling them “my beautiful sister.” When the fan held up a sign saying they were nonbinary, Martin immediately apologized and changed the lyrics to: “Okay, you beautiful person. That’s all I wanted to say.”
The fan shared the video of the moment online, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Many fans praised Martin for quickly correcting himself and respecting the fan’s pronouns. One fan said, “It’s that simple, people,” while another wrote, “Chris Martin showing that it’s SOO easy to just respect someone’s pronouns.”
Coldplay’s tour, which began in 2022, has sold over nine million tickets worldwide. They’ve performed hits like “Paradise,” “Fix You,” and “A Sky Full of Stars.” After wrapping up their shows in Australia and New Zealand, the band will return to Europe next summer, including performances at London’s Wembley Stadium and Hull’s Craven Park Stadium.
