Britney Spears Fired Coaches Before DUI Arrest
Britney Spears reportedly made significant changes to her staff in the weeks leading up to her DUI arrest in California, as fresh details emerge about the circumstances surrounding the incident and the singer’s upcoming court appearance.
Page Six reported that Spears allegedly fired her sobriety coaches and security guards after returning from a trip to Mexico, a move said to have happened after she sold the rights to her music catalogue in February for a nine-figure sum.
The report also said the California Highway Patrol believed the 44-year-old was under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol when she was taken into custody on Wednesday night, and it cited a claim from an insider that an unknown substance was found inside her car. Spears reportedly underwent field sobriety tests before being taken to hospital for a blood draw to determine her blood alcohol content.
Spears has been telling people her BAC was 0.06 per cent, according to the same report, though drivers can still face DUI charges in California if they are deemed impaired. Related coverage from Britpop News has included her manager Cade Hudson’s statement calling the incident “completely inexcusable” and saying she would take steps to comply with the law.
Spears was released from custody on Thursday morning and is scheduled to appear in court on May 4. The case is likely to focus on the results of the blood test, as well as allegations about her driving behaviour immediately before the stop.
