Blake Lively seeks to use Baldoni’s Britney Spears remark at trial
Blake Lively is reportedly planning to show jurors a 2017 video of actor Justin Baldoni discussing an awkward on-set encounter with Britney Spears, as the pair head toward a May trial linked to Lively’s allegations over their film “It Ends With Us.”
Page Six reported that Lively wants to use the clip to draw a comparison between Baldoni’s recounting of hugging Spears and his conduct toward her during production, after a judge dismissed her sexual harassment claims earlier this month while allowing other parts of the case to proceed.
In the archived interview, given to Fuse, Baldoni recalls approaching Spears — who guest-starred on “Jane the Virgin” — and giving her a big hug, before laughing that they were not friends in the way he had imagined. He then questions whether the moment amounted to having “harassed” the pop star, describing it as an awkward interaction.
The lawsuit has also pulled in other high-profile names, with court documents cited in recent coverage indicating Taylor Swift’s name appeared on a list of potential figures jurors could hear about during the proceedings. Britpop News has previously reported on the dispute over Taylor Swift’s role in the Lively and Baldoni legal battle as the case moved closer to trial.
Lively and Baldoni are currently scheduled to go to trial on May 18, with the remaining claims including breach of contract, retaliation and aiding and abetting in retaliation set to form the basis of the courtroom fight.
