Blake Lively allegedly used her friendship with Taylor Swift to gain leverage behind the scenes of It Ends With Us, according to Justin Baldoni.
On February 1, Baldoni published a website detailing his legal dispute with Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds. The site included a timeline claiming that Lively made a “veiled threat” related to Swift to get her way.
According to Baldoni, Lively threatened to withhold approval of the It Ends With Us trailer unless she was given extra time to work on a cut of the film with her personal editor. His team alleged that she implied she might “change her mind” about asking Taylor Swift to approve the use of My Tears Ricochet for the trailer if her demands weren’t met.
The website included an alleged text exchange with a Sony executive discussing the situation. The message suggested that Lively was reaching out to Swift for approval of the song while also pushing for more time with her editor. Another Sony marketing executive reportedly warned Baldoni not to give in, saying it would “delay and greatly hurt the movie.”
Despite this, Baldoni’s team ultimately agreed to Lively’s request to keep the project on schedule. The exchange allegedly took place in May 2024.
This isn’t the first time Taylor Swift’s name has been mentioned in Baldoni’s legal battle. She was previously referenced in a lawsuit he filed against Lively and Reynolds in January.
