Billie Eilish was hit in the face by a necklace thrown onto the stage by a fan during her performance at the Desert Diamond Arena in Arizona on December 13. Eilish was sitting cross-legged on the floor singing “What Was I Made For?” when the incident occurred. Fan footage showed her flinching as the necklace hit her, and the crowd reacted with surprise, some booing. Eilish continued singing, picked up the necklace, and tossed it aside. She has not yet commented on the incident.
This follows a troubling trend from last year, where several artists had objects thrown at them by fans, sparking concerns about safety. Eilish herself called it “infuriating,” acknowledging that while fans may act out of excitement or love, it can be dangerous. She expressed frustration with the behavior, noting that she has been dealing with it for years.
Other artists, including Pink, Lil Nas X, Bebe Rexha, Steve Lacy, and Adele, have also had objects thrown at them during performances. These incidents have led to widespread calls for fans to stop throwing things onstage, with many artists urging concertgoers to respect performers’ safety.
