Back in 2020, the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears teamed up for a song called Matches. The pop song was part of the deluxe edition of Britney’s album Glory. Even though both the Backstreet Boys and Britney had recorded their own versions before, neither had released it. Britney Spears’ ex-husband also reacted to a dangerous video with her.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, their record label suggested they work together on the song. “We thought, ‘Why not?’” said Backstreet Boys member Howie Dorough. “We grew up with Britney and were on the same music label, Jive Records.”
Now, the Backstreet Boys are getting ready for something big—their new Las Vegas show at the Sphere, starting in July. The show, called Into the Millennium, will celebrate their 1999 album Millennium with an exciting live performance.
“It’s great to work with new artists, but also fun to work with friends from our time,” Dorough said. “And this is a huge comeback—you can’t get bigger than the Sphere.”
The band had a great time during their last Las Vegas show and was waiting for the right chance to return.
“This time, we are bringing back one of our biggest albums,” Dorough said. “Some fans saw us before, and some weren’t even born yet—so it’s exciting for everyone.”
To prepare, the group visited the Sphere and saw The Eagles perform Hotel California. Band member Kevin Richardson was amazed. “The visuals were incredible,” he said. “We’re now working on our setlist and designing our own show. After 30 years, something like this makes us feel excited again.”
