Alex Turner was apparently furious with some of the fans during one of the Arctic Monkeys’ shows on their ongoing world tour.
Sometimes fans underappreciate the efforts of the musician which is disappointing. Apparently, that also applies even if you’re playing in an arena in one of the biggest bands in the world.
The Arctic Monkeys have done it all – they’ve sold millions of albums, they’ve played all around the world in huge venues, and even headlined Glastonbury twice, a feat they’ll do again later this month.
But frontman Alex Turner still wants people to be quiet and listen to what they’re doing, as shown when he seemed to get pretty annoyed at people talking during their recent show in Amsterdam.
The Monkeys played the Ziggo Dome in the capital city of the Netherlands at the beginning of May, performing for two nights. During one of the nights, the audience – who must have paid a decent amount for the privilege of talking through their set – didn’t seem to be playing ball.
Performing a slower song, Turner even stopped at one point to shush the audience, before stopping the song altogether to ask:
“What could they possibly be talking about?”
Then, in another clip, Turner – this time with his guitar – shouted ‘SILENCE!’ to the crowd.
He wasn’t done there, though.
Turner could also be seen mouthing ‘stop talking’ at one stage, before making the universal teach-style ‘stop giving it all this’ gesture with his hands.
To be fair to him, this is his job – he performs live music, and those who’ve paid loads to see it deserve the best show they can have.
However, he hasn’t been immune from some of the criticism.
One person commented:
“Most crowd interaction Alex has done in years,” while another said: “Alex is ready to be a teacher.”
On the other hand, some people equally seemed to support his actions.
“He was so right [though], I had seated tickets and people wouldn’t stop talking sometimes,” said one.
“I was there and this makes me so mad,” another wrote.
