It may surprise many to know that actress, Angelina Jolie once refused to work on the set of the James Bond movie – Casino Royale. This is reportedly due to the fact that the actress did not want to portray anyone other than Bond. Wonder how that would have worked out.
According to Fandomwire, Angelina Jolie, the actress known for playing Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider series was once given an opportunity to play the title of “Bond Girl” in 2006. During the early 2000s, the role of James Bond went up for grabs with Casino Royale. The role of Bond went to Daniel Craig. The character of the Bond Girl remained hidden until Eva Green was revealed. According to various reports, Angelina Jolie flat out rejected the role because she wanted to be Bond instead of a sidekick.
In 2006 when the search for a new James Bond was underway, the search for a Bond Girl was also in progress. After selecting Daniel Craig as the new 007 Agent, producers began looking to cast a heroine that could tag along.
Numerous actresses were considered and a personal invitation was sent to Angelina – wherein she could skip auditions and be hired immediately – site unseen, so-to-speak. The Maleficent actress rejected the role and claimed that she did not want to become a simple “Bond Girl”.
Angelina said:
“It started with a call from Amy [Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures]. She asked if I wanted to play a Bond girl. I said, ‘No, I’m not comfortable with that, but I would like to play Bond.’
