Britney Spears Hits Back After DUI Video Spreads
Ms Britney Spears has criticised what she called “mean girls” in a series of Instagram posts after footage of her March DUI arrest in California drew renewed attention online. The posts came as the singer, 44, continues a year of informal probation following her guilty plea earlier this spring.
After the arrest video circulated, Reality Tea reported that Spears wrote: “If you’re one of those mean girls pointing and laughing and looking at your phone in the audience, just look up today… River sends you guys a message!!!!!!!!” using Xila Maria River Red, a pseudonym she has adopted.
The outlet also said authorities alleged Spears was arrested on March 4 on suspicion of driving under the influence after being stopped for erratic, high-speed driving, and that the later-released footage showed her struggling through a field sobriety test. The report said she told officers she had consumed one mimosa and was taking prescription medication, and that she was spared jail time after pleading guilty on May 4.
In another Instagram post dated May 26, Spears appeared to address the attention around her, writing that “too much chatter” behind her back can affect people and adding that she hoped “the media” would respect what she called her “unbelievable and miraculous spiritual journey”. She later posted an edited childhood image and shared a dancing clip in a pink minidress, according to the article.
The new comments follow recent reporting about the fallout from the viral footage, including claims that Spears considered the release of the video “cruel” as she tries to move forward after the case.
Spears remains one of pop’s most scrutinised figures, and her latest posts show she is again pushing back publicly at critics as online attention returns to her legal troubles.
