Prince Harry UK trip may avoid William and Kate
Prince Harry is expected to return to the UK this summer for a countdown event ahead of the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, with reports suggesting any wider family meeting would be carefully managed to avoid contact with Prince William and Princess Catherine. The Duke of Sussex has made solo trips to Britain in recent months, but he has not been reported to have met King Charles face-to-face during those visits.
The Express reported that the Duke, 41, is anticipated to travel for the one-year countdown to the Birmingham-hosted Invictus Games, and that he is unlikely to cross paths with Prince William or the Princess of Wales if a family reunion occurs.
According to the report, there is also speculation that Meghan Markle could accompany him, potentially with their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, marking a possible return to the UK for the Duchess of Sussex after not visiting beyond brief airport appearances since 2022. The same reporting suggests a meeting with King Charles could be arranged in Scotland, where the King typically spends part of the summer at Balmoral.
Royal author Ingrid Seward was quoted as saying the most practical location for the King to see his grandchildren would be Balmoral, adding that accommodation on the estate would make a short family stay feasible. She also suggested the King would choose timings carefully so that any Sussex visit did not overlap with the Prince and Princess of Wales, given the continuing strain in relations between the two households.
If the Invictus countdown appearance goes ahead as described, it would represent another high-profile UK engagement for Prince Harry during a period when his relationship with senior royals remains under intense scrutiny, and any confirmed itinerary is likely to be closely watched for signs of contact between the Duke and the wider family.
