TalkTV guest claims William could remove Sussex titles under one condition
Prince William has been drawn into fresh debate about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles after a TalkTV segment in which a royal journalist claimed the Prince of Wales may take a tougher approach to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the future. The discussion centred on whether the titles could be removed when William eventually becomes king.
On TalkTV, royal journalist Sarah-Louise Robertson told presenter Mark Dolan that William’s approach would depend on whether Prince Harry remained married to Meghan; Daily Express reported she suggested the Prince of Wales would “strip the titles” if the couple were still together, but might consider a less harsh stance if Harry were divorced.
Ms Robertson repeatedly stressed her comments were hypothetical, while Mr Dolan argued that King Charles III has created a “problem” for William by allowing the couple to retain their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles after stepping back as working royals in 2020. Ms Robertson also raised the question of the Sussexes’ use of HRH, noting reporting that the style has been used privately despite Buckingham Palace previously stating the couple would not use HRH as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family.
The wider conversation follows continuing scrutiny of the Sussexes’ relationship with the monarchy, including coverage of Prince Harry’s therapy documentary revisiting his rift with Prince William.
There is no indication of any immediate move to change titles, but the TalkTV remarks underline how questions about the Sussexes’ status continue to surface as the Royal Family navigates roles, protocol and public expectations.
