Prince Harry Therapy Documentary Revisits William Rift
Prince Harry’s strained relationship with Prince William has been revisited in a new Channel 5 documentary examining the Duke of Sussex’s upbringing, bereavement and public disclosures, with the programme suggesting the brothers’ reconciliation remains a distant prospect.
The documentary, Express reported, includes discussion of how Meghan Markle encouraged Prince Harry to seek therapy, alongside earlier support from Prince William and Princess Kate during the Heads Together mental health campaign.
In archived footage referenced in the programme, Prince Harry is shown speaking about the difficulty of discussing Princess Diana’s death, while Prince William and Princess Kate listen as part of their public work promoting conversations about mental wellbeing.
The film also revisits reports that Prince William had concerns about the pace of Prince Harry’s relationship with Ms Markle, with royal expert Ms Jennie Bond saying the suggestion that he was moving too fast helped trigger a rift that was never fully repaired, echoing earlier Britpop News reporting on warnings that the Duke is in no position to make demands of the Royal Family.
The programme goes on to cover key flashpoints since the Sussexes stepped back from royal duties in 2020, including their US relocation, major media interviews, the Netflix series and the publication of Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, which included an account of an alleged physical altercation with his brother. The documentary features commentary from author Mr Tom Quinn, who says Prince Harry has “gained strength and resilience” but “lost his family”.
