Prince William jokes with Pep Guardiola after Man City win
Prince William was caught on camera sharing a brief joke with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola during the FA Cup trophy and medal presentation at Wembley after City’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea.
As Guardiola climbed the Wembley steps to collect his medal, the Prince of Wales appeared to say “Another one, eh?” before placing the medal around the coach’s neck, The Sun reported.
The exchange came as William carried out duties connected to his role as President and Patron of the Football Association, greeting players, officials and coaching staff before kick-off and then taking part in the post-match presentation.
Manchester City’s win added another trophy to Guardiola’s record in charge, with the report noting it was his 20th major honour since arriving at the Etihad Stadium. In a separate moment highlighted in the coverage, City goalkeeper James Trafford opted for a fist bump instead of a handshake during the pre-match greetings because he was wearing gloves.
William has frequently been seen engaging with footballers and supporters at major matches, and Britpop News previously reported that he has spoken about Prince George’s interest in football allegiances as the young royal grows up.
The presentation offered another public glimpse of the Prince’s sporting role and his ease in the ceremonial moments that come with it, as he congratulated the winners and marked the end of another major Wembley final.
