Katie Nicholl Says Charles Won’t Take Harry Calls
Prince Harry has been described as “more of an outsider than ever” in his relationship with the Royal Family, according to comments made on a recent episode of The Royals Uncensored podcast. The claims centre on the Duke of Sussex’s reported attempts to contact King Charles directly rather than using official palace channels.
Vanity Fair royal editor Ms Katie Nicholl said she had spoken to someone close to the King and claimed that Charles is currently refusing to take his youngest son’s calls because Prince Harry is “not going through the right channels”, Express reported.
Speaking alongside co-host Ms Jo Elvin, Ms Nicholl said the official route for reaching the King is through his private secretary, and alleged that Harry tends to “go off-piste” by trying to contact his father directly. She added that this approach makes the King “nervous”, suggesting that Charles believes anything he says to Prince Harry could be leaked.
The comments follow reporting around the King’s recent overseas programme, including claims that royal coverage in Australia contrasted Charles’s US visit with the Sussexes’ recent travel as public debate continues about the couple’s role outside the working monarchy.
Buckingham Palace has not commented on the podcast claims, but the remarks highlight the continuing scrutiny of communication between the Duke and the King as Charles maintains a full schedule of engagements.
