Tom Bower Dismisses Harry and Meghan Divorce Talk
Royal biographer Tom Bower has weighed in on renewed speculation about the state of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s marriage, saying he does not believe the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are heading for divorce. Mr Bower made the comments during a recent episode of the Daily Expresso show, where he was asked about persistent rumours that the couple’s relationship has become strained.
In his remarks, Express reported that Mr Bower argued the couple’s partnership remains intact despite tensions, telling host Mr JJ Anisiobi: “I don’t believe they are [going to divorce]. There are tensions in relationships but I think in the end he needs her [and] she needs him.”
Mr Bower went on to suggest their relationship is underpinned by what he described as a practical arrangement, adding: “It’s a relationship based on a good business standing and so I am not one of those [people] who think that they are about to in any way break up.” He also said he believed the Duke “needs her” and the Duchess “needs the label,” in comments that were framed as his assessment of their dynamic.
The discussion comes as the Sussexes have recently returned to the United States after a four-day visit to Australia, where they carried out a mix of joint and solo engagements without their children. Following the trip, Prince Harry made a surprise visit to Ukraine, joining the HALO Trust near Bucha to view a demonstration of digital de-mining technology, while the Duchess of Sussex remained in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Against the backdrop of ongoing scrutiny, the couple’s use of their titles has continued to draw attention, including previous reporting that Prince William was reportedly ‘ready to remove’ Prince Harry and Meghan Markle titles.
Mr Bower’s comments are the latest public contribution to a long-running debate around the Sussexes’ future, as separate work commitments and overseas travel continue to prompt fresh discussion about how the couple balance family life and their public roles.
