Prince William ‘Would Remove’ Harry, Meghan Titles, Claim
A new report has claimed Prince William would move to strip Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of their royal titles if he became monarch, as commentary continues to swirl around the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s recent trip to Australia.
The Mirror reported that columnist Ms Jane Moore, writing in The Sun, suggested the Prince of Wales “would remove their titles in a heartbeat given half the chance”, while also arguing King Charles may be more constrained by personal factors in how he responds to the Sussexes.
In the same piece, Ms Moore said Prince Harry appeared “all too happy to exploit” what she characterised as the King’s guilt, pointing to remarks the Duke of Sussex made during a mental health talk in Australia in which he said he hoped his parenting would be an “upgrade” on his own upbringing.
As the debate over the Sussexes’ public appearances continues, previous Britpop News reporting has described claims that Prince Harry and Meghan were accused of acting like royal “heirs” in Australia, following engagements that some critics likened to an official royal tour.
No Buckingham Palace response was cited in the report. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back as working royals in 2020 and now live in the United States, while Prince William continues duties as heir to the throne as the Royal Family navigates ongoing scrutiny of titles, roles and public representation.
