Royal Experts Say William ‘Frozen Out’ Harry Since 2022
New claims about the rift between Prince William and Prince Harry have resurfaced after royal commentators suggested the Prince of Wales has maintained a deliberate distance from his younger brother since 2022. The latest assertions focus on how William is said to be handling the ongoing family fallout following the Duke of Sussex’s departure from royal duties and subsequent public accounts of life inside the monarchy.
In comments carried by Fox News, broadcaster Ms Helena Chard described William’s silence as “a strategy”, while royal expert Mr Richard Fitzwilliams claimed William regards his brother as “totally untrustworthy”. The report also cited author Mr Russell Myers saying the brothers have reportedly not spoken since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.
The Fox News piece linked the tension to the Sussexes’ 2020 exit and the couple’s later interviews and documentaries, as well as Prince Harry’s 2023 memoir, Spare, which detailed disputes within the family. It also repeated claims that William was concerned when Prince Harry’s relationship with Meghan Markle moved quickly, with accounts suggesting he encouraged his brother to take time before making long-term commitments.
The renewed focus on William’s approach comes as Britpop News has previously reported that King Charles and Prince William were reportedly split on a Sussex strategy as the Palace sought to limit further disruption while preserving the monarchy’s “never complain, never explain” stance.
Kensington Palace did not comment on the claims in the Fox News report, while Buckingham Palace has previously said it does not comment on books. With no public sign of a reconciliation, the future shape of relations between the brothers remains a key question for the royal family as Prince William continues to step forward in his role.
