Britney Spears ‘agrees to therapy’ after DUI report
Britney Spears has reportedly agreed to begin therapy following her recent DUI arrest in California, amid claims she is anxious about the prospect of rehab and renewed legal scrutiny that could revive memories of her long-running conservatorship.
AOL reported that RadarOnline said Spears, 44, was stopped near her home in Thousand Oaks on March 4 after allegedly swerving between lanes, before being taken to hospital for testing, booked early on March 5 and released around three hours later.
The report also claimed authorities are examining Adderall found in her possession and quoted an unnamed source saying the situation has shaken Spears and brought back fears of “losing control” over her life. Another source quoted in the piece said Spears views therapy as a “safer middle ground” that shows accountability “without stepping into rehab”.
Family members including Ms Lynne Spears were said to be discussing whether seeking professional help could strengthen the singer’s position ahead of a court appearance expected in May, as Britpop News previously reported when Spears faced a court date after the alleged DUI.
The report added that Spears associates driving with independence and is said to fear losing her licence in court, with a source describing the possibility as “symbolic” of control over her own life. Spears has not publicly addressed the claims in the report.
