Britney Spears faces May court date after DUI
Ms Britney Spears is reportedly trying to steady her personal life after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in California, with the singer said to be focused on the impact the incident could have on her relationship with her two sons. The reported arrest follows a traffic stop on March 4, with a court appearance expected in May.
Globe reported that California Highway Patrol officers pulled over Spears around 9:30 p.m. on March 4, saying she was driving erratically at a high rate of speed and showed signs of impairment, and that she was charged with driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol after spending the night in police custody.
The report said Spears is most concerned about how the arrest may affect her sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, whom she shares with Mr Kevin Federline. It quoted an unnamed insider saying she was embarrassed by the incident and wanted to earn back her sons’ trust and respect, while also citing a People attribution stating she is “very emotional and regretful” about how the situation could affect them.
In the wake of the arrest, previous BritpopNews coverage has tracked developments around the case, including claims that she agreed to treatment after the DUI as she seeks to address concerns about her wellbeing.
Spears is now facing a May 4 court date, according to the report, while those around her are said to be putting a plan in place to support her and to address concerns about the people in her circle as she attempts to move forward.
