Lip Reader Claims Tense William-Harry Exchange
A professional lip reader has claimed Prince William and Prince Harry shared a tense exchange during a joint appearance at Windsor Castle days after Queen Elizabeth II’s death. The moment is revisited in a new television programme examining the royals’ interactions around the period of national mourning.
Tyla reported that lip reader Ms Nicola Hickling, speaking in Channel 5’s Lip-Reading The Royals, alleged Princess Kate told the brothers to “stop arguing” while the group—also including Meghan Markle—walked at Windsor. Hickling claimed Prince William then said: “Why are we together? This is not the end.”
According to the report, the lip reader also alleged Meghan told the brothers, “Not today,” and claimed Prince Harry replied: “Not now, please. I didn’t foresee this.” Hickling said Princess Kate repeated her request for the brothers to stop arguing before the group continued their engagement, which marked their first formal appearance together since the Queen’s passing.
The claims have renewed attention on the couple’s public manner during royal duties, with interest also shaped by previous discussion of how ‘normal’ William and Kate acted without cameras rolling when cameras were not focused on them during engagements.
Prince William and Prince Harry later appeared together at Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral on 19 September 2022, joining King Charles III and other senior royals in the procession. Kensington Palace and representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not commented on the lip-reading claims.
