Meghan Markle retreat organiser faces liquidation ahead of Sydney event
Meghan Markle is due to appear at a women-only retreat in Sydney next month, but fresh reports suggest the organiser linked to the event is facing financial turmoil. The Duchess of Sussex is scheduled to speak during the three-day Her Best Life gathering, where tickets are priced at up to around £1,400.
Hello Magazine reported that Gemma O’Neill, who is promoting the retreat, took her talent management company Gemmie Agency into voluntary liquidation after it collapsed last November with an unpaid tax bill of AU$543,548 (about £289,257).
The publication said Ms O’Neill is believed to be in talks with creditors. The retreat is being organised with Australian radio personality Jackie “O” Henderson, and is set to run from 17 to 19 April at the InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach, including a gala dinner and sessions focused on resilience and women’s empowerment.
The engagement comes as Markle continues to pursue commercial ventures alongside public-facing appearances, following reports earlier this month that she and Netflix ended their partnership over the As Ever lifestyle brand.
According to the event details, VIP packages also include a group table photo with the Duchess and front-row seating at the gala dinner. Prince Harry is also expected to be in Australia for engagements during the trip, which would mark the Sussexes’ first appearance in the country since their 2018 tour.
