Harry Styles Kisses Ben Marshall During SNL Monologue
Harry Styles addressed past criticism about his public image during his “Saturday Night Live” hosting appearance, punctuating his monologue with an on-stage kiss with comedian Mr Ben Marshall. The moment, framed as a joke about earlier online discourse, quickly circulated on social media and prompted fresh discussion about the singer’s comments on sexuality and celebrity scrutiny.
During the monologue, Styles referenced claims that he had been “queerbaiting” and said audiences had paid close attention to his clothing choices, before later kissing Marshall on the lips during a bit about his new music, Page Six reported.
The former One Direction star, 32, told the studio audience he was “tremendously boring” and joked that people acted as if his hobbies were interesting because he is famous. He also teased his forthcoming album, “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.”, with the monologue including a running gag in which other cast members appeared briefly before leaving in mock disappointment.
Styles’ SNL appearance also follows earlier scrutiny of his stage wardrobe and public relationships, themes he previously touched on when he opened up about doubts during touring in earlier comments reported by Britpop News.
Neither Styles nor NBC immediately issued additional comment on the segment, but the sketch has added to a wider conversation about how pop stars respond to online labels and the way comedic monologues can be used to acknowledge, or defuse, persistent fan debates.
