Queen Camilla quote claim resurfaces in new book
Queen Camilla has been drawn into fresh scrutiny after a new royal book alleged she once told a friend that Meghan Markle had “brainwashed” Prince Harry during the early stages of his relationship with the former actress. The claim is attributed to author Mr Tom Bower and is presented as part of a wider account of tensions surrounding the Duke of Sussex and the Royal Family.
Express reported that the allegation appears in Mr Bower’s forthcoming book Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family, which is due to be published on March 26, and includes the quoted line: “Meghan’s brainwashed Harry.”
In the extracted passage, the author claims Prince Harry had been “ignoring his old friends” and even changed his telephone number without telling his family, before describing him as increasingly focused on “seeking revenge”. The book excerpt also characterises the Duke as emotionally veering “towards extremes”, with “simple dislikes” becoming “passionate hatred”, the report said.
The claim arrives amid heightened attention on the wider Royal Family, following recent developments around Prince Andrew, and comes after King Charles issued a statement days after Prince Andrew’s arrest in separate coverage.
Neither the Duke and Duchess of Sussex nor Buckingham Palace were reported to have commented on the alleged remark. The excerpt reiterates that Prince Harry and Ms Meghan Markle stepped back from royal duties and relocated to the United States, with the book positioning those decisions within a longer-running family rift.
