Report Links Jordan Trip to Sussex ‘Truce’
A new report has claimed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be signalling a “secret truce” with Prince William and Princess Kate, with royal commentary suggesting their recent overseas trip carried a message to the Waleses during a period of heightened scrutiny for the Royal Family.
Marie Claire UK reported that royal author Ms Ingrid Seward told The Mirror the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s two-day visit to Jordan could be interpreted as a “not-so-secret message” that “We’re here, we can help, we can do this with you,” while adding that a personal reconciliation could be possible even if a professional return to royal duties is unlikely.
The report said the Sussexes were invited to support humanitarian efforts alongside World Health Organisation director-general Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. It also noted ongoing strains between the brothers, with Prince Harry having previously described the breakdown in his relationship with Prince William in his memoir Spare and in interviews, while suggesting that the Prince of Wales has been reluctant to make amends.
The Jordan visit has also prompted official attention, with the UK Foreign Office clarifying its position after Harry and Meghan’s ambassador meeting as questions were raised about the scope of the couple’s engagements.
Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace have not commented on the latest claims, and there has been no public indication of a change in formal relations between the Sussexes and the Waleses.
