Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Begin Jordan WHO Visit
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have begun a two-day visit to Jordan, with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex set to carry out engagements on February 25 and 26 focused on humanitarian health efforts linked to the war in Gaza and the wider region.
The couple are travelling to Jordan to join the World Health Organisation’s Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom, with Express.co.uk reporting that the Sussexes aim to spotlight Jordan’s role in facilitating medical evacuations for children affected by the conflict.
The trip follows a previous joint engagement involving Prince Harry and Dr Tedros Adhanom, after the pair met last September. During that engagement, they highlighted research at Imperial College London’s Centre for Blast Injury Studies and drew attention to the need for international action to support civilians with conflict-related injuries, according to the Sussexes’ office.
The Jordan programme is also expected to include a visit to the regional headquarters of World Central Kitchen and an engagement at Questscope in the Za’atari Refugee Camp, where displaced Syrians are based; the visit comes as the Duke faces renewed scrutiny over the Royal Family’s response to Prince Andrew’s arrest at home.
In a statement, the Sussexes’ office said the visit is intended to highlight the importance of mental health services, physical rehabilitation and community-based support for individuals and families affected by war, framing the programme as part of a shared commitment with the World Health Organisation to strengthen humanitarian health response and long-term recovery.
