Insider Claims Harry Frustrated After Andrew Arrest
An insider close to Prince Harry has claimed the Duke of Sussex is watching developments around Andrew Mountbatten Windsor’s arrest from Montecito, amid what is described as frustration over the continued “silence” from parts of the Royal Family. The comments come after police detained Andrew this week and searches were reported at royal properties.
Andrew was arrested at a temporary home in Sandringham on suspicion of misconduct in public office linked to his association with Jeffrey Epstein, and was held for 11 hours, the Mirror reported, adding he remains “under investigation” as authorities continue searches at Sandringham and Royal Lodge.
The source said Prince Harry had already “made his views about Andrew abundantly clear” in his memoir Spare, and suggested he was “vilified and ostracised” for speaking candidly when other parts of the institution stayed quiet. In the book, the Duke wrote he was stunned when police security was removed from his family after they stepped back from royal duties in 2020, and contrasted that with Andrew retaining protection despite scandal.
The security issue has repeatedly surfaced in reporting about the Sussexes’ split from working royal life, including claims that a row over protection for Meghan exacerbated tensions between Prince William and Prince Harry.
The Mirror said King Charles issued a personal statement that “the law must take its course” following news of Andrew’s arrest, while the Prince and Princess of Wales were described as “deeply concerned” about the allegations. Any move to remove Andrew from the line of succession would require agreement across the 14 British realms and legislation in Parliament.
