Prince Harry appears tearful at LA dinner
Prince Harry made a surprise appearance at a dinner in Los Angeles where he spoke with British families who say they lost their children because of social media harms. The Duke of Sussex, 41, became visibly emotional while thanking attendees, as a US court case examines the impact of major platforms on children’s mental health.
In footage shared by broadcasters, Hello Magazine reported that Prince Harry tearfully told the families, “None of you should be here,” as he praised them for repeatedly sharing their stories in pursuit of “truth, justice and accountability”.
In the filmed remarks, Prince Harry also referenced his own experience of legal proceedings, describing the court fight involving the tech firms as “vastly different” and comparing it to “David versus Goliath”. He spoke about how hearing arguments in court can trigger overwhelming emotions for parents, urging them not to feel ashamed if they react strongly.
The appearance comes as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have continued work connected to their Parents’ Network, and in earlier Britpop News coverage Meghan Markle reportedly advised the Duke to “keep your head down” amid heightened attention on the couple’s public projects.
The jury trial is expected to run for several weeks, focusing on allegations that certain design features and algorithms were built to encourage excessive use among children. For the Duke, the moment underscored his growing focus on online safety as families push for accountability from some of the world’s biggest social media companies.
