New DOJ photos of Prince Andrew reignite pressure on William and King Charles to distance monarchy
Prince Andrew has been pulled back into fresh scrutiny after newly released images linked to Jeffrey Epstein surfaced in a new US file drop, with royal commentators warning the pictures could create renewed pressure for Prince William and King Charles III as they seek to protect the monarchy’s reputation.
In the latest batch of Department of Justice files, Fox News reported that the former Duke of York appears in three photos in which he is seen on all fours above an unidentified, fully clothed woman whose face is obscured, with no details provided about when or where the images were taken.
Royal expert Mr. Ian Pelham Turner told Fox News Digital the photos were sending both the King and the Prince of Wales “into apoplexy”, while noting the palace is attempting to keep distance from further ridicule. Fox News said Buckingham Palace has previously declined to comment on matters concerning the King’s younger brother, citing that he is no longer a working royal.
The episode comes as royal watchers continue to assess how the Wales household manages wider family strain, with one recent Britpop News report noting that Prince William and Prince Harry reportedly “have no trust” as public speculation persists around the brothers’ relationship.
Fox News also cited comments from British broadcaster Ms. Helena Chard, who said Prince William was “furious” that a tougher stance had not been taken, alongside remarks from UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer urging anyone with information to share it and calling for Epstein’s victims to be prioritised. Prince Andrew has long denied wrongdoing and previously settled a civil case brought by Ms. Virginia Giuffre in 2022 without admitting liability.
With US authorities continuing to release further material for review, the latest images are likely to intensify calls for clarity over what remains in the remaining files and what, if any, steps will be taken next regarding Prince Andrew’s position and proximity to the wider royal family.
