Harry and Meghan make Sundance debut at ‘Cookie Queens’ premiere in Salt Lake City
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a surprise appearance at the Sundance Film Festival on Saturday, attending the Salt Lake City premiere of documentary film “Cookie Queens”. The outing marked the couple’s first appearance at the festival and came days after the Duke of Sussex gave emotional testimony at the High Court in London in his case against a UK tabloid publisher.
At the Eccles Theatre, Page Six reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex posed for photos with actress Ms Amy Redford, Sundance Film Festival director Mr Eugene Hernandez and the film’s director Ms Alysa Nahmias at the premiere.
The report said Prince Harry wore a puffer jacket with green trousers and boots, while Meghan wore a black knit jumper and black flared jeans. The couple are listed as executive producers on “Cookie Queens”, which follows four Girl Scouts during cookie season, and the article noted the subject has personal connections for Meghan, who was a Girl Scout in California while her mother, Ms Doria Ragland, served as her troop leader.
Their festival appearance follows the Duke’s recent court appearances, including earlier proceedings in which his tie drew attention during a fourth day at the High Court as he pursued claims relating to press intrusion.
With the documentary set to reach wider audiences after Sundance, the Sussexes’ public support for the project places renewed focus on their media work as well as the legal battle that Prince Harry says has been driven by his concerns over privacy and press conduct.
