Prince William recently earned a massive $30 million last year. It is a staggering sum and one that Star has reported elicited a lot of eye rolling from estranged brother Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle.
“Anytime Meghan and Harry get a big payday, they get absolutely hammered from every direction and branded greedy,” says a source of the outlet.
“Yet, William can pull in $30 million and no one bats an eye or questions why he’s getting paid so much money.”
“That’s just what William gets from the Duchy of Cornwall,” the source said about the estate he inherited from King Charles III in 2022.
“He’s taking more than that [and still] you never hear anyone complaining about him being money-hungry the way they do Meghan and Harry.”
It’s a “massive double standard” as far as Harry, and Meghan, are concerned, added the source. “The rules are completely different depending on which side of the family you’re on.”
The royal family’s annual earnings report has also raised questions regarding what Harry and Meghan’s financial situation might’ve looked like had they remained working members of the monarchy.
“That’s a hard pill to swallow, especially right now when cash flow is such an issue for them,” spills the source, adding that William’s income has “triggered some very real jealousy” within the beleaguered couple. “They genuinely believe they work just as hard, if not harder, for causes they care deeply about yet the financial rewards don’t even come close.”
It’s not something Meghan and Harry would ever admit publicly, says the source. “But privately, it’s galling to watch William cash in while they’re scrambling.”
