Britney Spears is finally back on social media. The pop star briefly deleted her Instagram account, but returned on November 7 with a message about protecting her peace.
“So much has happened this year,” Britney, 43, wrote. “Get your ballet shoes, make your circle, and protect your boundaries. It’s strict, almost like a prayer. But with so many possibilities in life, it’s important to just be yourself and keep things simple.”
Before taking her account down, Britney shared painful memories about her time in rehab near the end of her 13-year conservatorship. She called the experience “traumatic,” saying she had no privacy and was prevented from moving around freely. She said it felt like her sense of self had been “destroyed.”
Around the same time, her ex-husband Kevin Federline, who shares two sons with her, Sean, 20, and Jayden, 19, spoke publicly about concerns he has for her while promoting his new memoir You Thought You Knew. In his book, he also discusses the boys’ distant relationship with Britney.
Britney responded by saying Kevin’s comments were “hurtful and exhausting.” She wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that she has always wanted a close relationship with her sons.
“Relationships with teenage boys are complicated,” she said. “I have begged for them to be part of my life. I feel like I’m the only one getting hurt in this.”
Calling Kevin’s claims “white lies,” Britney added: “I’ve had enough, and any real woman would say something too.”
