Prince Harry has rejected reports about his recent meeting with King Charles, saying they are “categorically false” and appear aimed at blocking a family reconciliation.
Harry met his father on September 10 at Clarence House in London, their first face-to-face visit since February 2024. The Sun newspaper claimed the meeting felt formal and that Harry was treated like an official visitor, not family. In a statement, Harry’s spokesperson said those claims were “pure invention” meant to sabotage any reconciliation, though no names were given.
The Sun said it stood by its reporting and noted that Harry’s team declined to comment before publication.
Harry’s four-day UK trip focused on charity events in Nottingham and London, with the meeting with his father lasting about 50 minutes over tea. Buckingham Palace described it as private. The meeting came after nearly two years without seeing each other and was viewed as a hopeful first step toward mending their relationship, which has been strained since Harry and Meghan left royal duties in 2020.
Harry also corrected details about gifts exchanged, confirming a framed photograph was given but clarifying it did not include him and Meghan, despite what the Sun reported.
The Duke of Sussex has repeatedly said he wants to reconcile with his family and stop the public fighting. He lives in California with Meghan and their children, Archie and Lilibet. His relationship with Prince William remains distant, and they did not meet during this trip.
