Reports suggest that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were upset with the royal family over their response to President Donald Trump’s speech during his State Banquet dinner via Yahoo. Recently, the President of the United States visited England with First Lady Melania Trump, and the royal family extended a warm welcome to the couple at Windsor Castle for the banquet.
During his speech, Trump referred to Prince William as a “remarkable son” of King Charles but did not mention Prince Harry at all. According to the outlet, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex felt “betrayed” by the royal family for entertaining the toast given by Trump.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reportedly not pleased with the royal family. During Donald Trump’s U.K. visit, he gave a speech at the Windsor Castle State Banquet. He showered the monarch’s family with praises and kind words. The president referred to Prince William as King Charles’ “remarkable son” and claimed that he believed the heir would have an “unbelievable success in future.”
This statement drew people’s attention as they pointed out that Trump didn’t mention Harry in his state dinner toast. On top of that, the royals were seemingly entertaining Trump’s remarks. Hence, it didn’t sit well with the Sussex couple. A source told Rob Shuter’s #ShuterScoop, “It was a dig, no question. Watching the family laugh along felt like betrayal.”
Another insider from California informed that Harry and Markle couldn’t believe the way the royal family behaved around the President of America. “The pomp, the handshakes, the compliments — to them, it looks like bowing down to a man who has openly insulted them for years,” they added.
