Prince Harry is planning to invite King Charles and Prince William to the 2027 Invictus Games in hopes of fixing their broken relationship, according to a report.
The event is set to take place in Birmingham from July 12 to July 17, 2027. Sources say Harry will email invitations to Buckingham Palace this month and send formal invites closer to the date. He has already approved who will be invited and what the invitations will say.
A source told the Daily Mail that Harry wants the Invictus Games to include his family. “The royal family has always been proud of what Harry has done with Invictus. This is his way of reaching out and hoping they respond,” the source said.
However, the Games will take place during a busy time for the royal family—it overlaps with Queen Camilla’s 80th birthday. Since birthday plans are already being made, it’s unclear if the royals will attend Harry’s event.
This is the first time Harry has publicly reached out to his family since their falling out more than five years ago. His relationship with the royal family has been rocky, especially after his book Spare and other interviews where he shared private family details.
It’s not known if Meghan Markle and their kids, Archie and Lilibet, will come to the UK for the Games. Harry has said in the past that they won’t visit unless they have full police protection, which he recently lost in court. If Meghan doesn’t go, it would be the first Invictus Games she has missed since she met Harry.
Some royal experts think there’s still a chance for a reunion. Royal writer Ingrid Seward said King Charles might attend to support the Armed Forces and show respect for Harry’s work. But she also said trust is still a big problem, since Harry has shared private conversations in the past.
Another royal expert, Katie Nicholl, said the King wants a relationship with Harry and his grandchildren. “He’s very forgiving, and he might decide to attend Invictus,” she said.
